Sunrise over vineyard

Every bottle of Flying Lady is the culmination of balanced collaboration between people and place. The Flying Lady team is comprised of Founders David and Zach Nassar and Consulting Winemaker Leigh Meyering. David and Zach created Flying Lady as a continuation of their sense of curiosity, exploration, and adventure. As our consulting winemaker, Leigh brings years of experience with some of Napa’s finest wineries, including Charles Krug and Spring Mountain. Together, the Flying Lady team seeks out the best of Napa Valley and its appellations, including the Oak Knoll and Spring Mountain Districts, to create wines capable of elevating any adventure.

When it comes to making exceptional wines, people represent only part of the equation. At Flying Lady, we believe that our greatest partners are the soil and vines of our vineyards. For our 2015 and 2016 releases, we utilized fruit from the L’Attitude Vineyard in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District to produce our single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. This rare sliver of land bordering Dry Creek sits at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain Range on the Alluvial Fan and receives the drainage of the entire Mayacamas Range. The confluence of rich soil and consistent hydration and drainage cycles delivers amazing high-quality grapes. Beginning with our 2017 vintage, we also sourced from the exceptional York Creek Vineyard, which sits high on Spring Mountain alongside the Flying Lady Winery and Estate and provides vibrant and unique fruit that reflects the distinct characteristics of our home on Spring Mountain.

The Flying Lady Winery & Estate is perched atop Spring Mountain, offering unparalleled panoramic views of Napa Valley, perfectly framed by the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain Ranges. Our 13-acre property is every bit as beautiful and elegant as the wines we strive to create. Following the losses of the Glass Fire in October 2020, the Flying Lady team is hard at work building the vision for resurrecting our home on Spring Mountain for future visits and production.

Each bottle of our wine is graced by the Flying Lady—the protector of the adventurer’s soul—who has been seen throughout time as the powerful yet graceful figurehead adorning vessels exploring the unknown on land, sea, and air.  Given our passion for adventure and aviation, she was a fitting choice for our icon, as is our philanthropic partner, Angel Flight West.  Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Its network of 1,400+ pilots throughout the 13 western states donate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations.

The Flying Lady team is honored to fly missions for Angel Flight West and to be a presenting sponsor at its annual fundraising gala, The Endeavor Awards.  In addition to this ongoing support, Flying Lady donates $1 to Angel Flight West for every bottle sold.  To learn more about Angel Flight West and its important work, please visit

To All Family and Friends of Flying Lady

It is with great sadness that we report our beloved home and Flying Lady Winery was tragically and totally lost in the Glass Fire on September 27th, 2020.  As you know, Flying Lady is the Spirit of Adventure and, like many adventures, risk is present, but this setback has not, and will not, defeat us.  Our brand and our future vintages remain intact, and we will only grow stronger and fly higher.

Our beloved icon symbolizes good fortune and has protected the adventurer’s soul for centuries.  She graced the bow of ships navigating the open seas, her beautiful hair swept by the wind and her arms thrust back.  She then gained more contemporary affection on the hood of the Rolls Royce automobile as the Spirit of Ecstasy.   She furthered her journey and took to the skies as nose art on the WWII aircraft protecting our brave pilots at war.   We are blessed to continue her legacy through our brand and its pursuit of passion and the finest wines in Napa Valley.  We will honor her deep history and legacy by continuing to make the best Napa Valley wines, using the best vineyards the valley has to offer.

While risk is always present, it has not overtaken us.  We have already begun drafting plans for the new winery and home to be built on beautiful Spring Mountain.  In the spirit of her automotive history, the rear-view mirror is smaller than the windshield for good reason. Our future is wide, blue, and bright, and we look forward to sharing our new facilities as they rise from these ashes.  As we get to work, we stand in support of all of those affected, with thankful hearts for those continuing to combat the fires and those that have supported us in our journey.
Warmest Regards,
The Flying Lady Team
