Glass Fire Update
To All Family and Friends of Flying Lady:
It is with great sadness that we report our beloved home and Flying Lady Winery was tragically and totally lost in the Glass Fire on September 27th, 2020. As you know, Flying Lady is the Spirit of Adventure and, like many adventures, risk is present, but this setback has not, and will not, defeat us. Our brand and our future vintages remain intact, and we will only grow stronger and fly higher.
Our beloved icon symbolizes good fortune and has protected the adventurer’s soul for centuries. She graced the bow of ships navigating the open seas, her beautiful hair swept by the wind and her arms thrust back. She then gained more contemporary affection on the hood of the Rolls Royce automobile as the Spirit of Ecstasy. She furthered her journey and took to the skies as nose art on the WWII aircraft protecting our brave pilots at war. We are blessed to continue her legacy through our brand and its pursuit of passion and the finest wines in Napa Valley. We will honor her deep history and legacy by continuing to make the best Napa Valley wines, using the best vineyards the valley has to offer.
While risk is always present, it has not overtaken us. We have already begun drafting plans for the new winery and home to be built on beautiful Spring Mountain. In the spirit of her automotive history, the rear-view mirror is smaller than the windshield for good reason. Our future is wide, blue, and bright, and we look forward to sharing our new facilities as they rise from these ashes. As we get to work, we stand in support of all of those affected, with thankful hearts for those continuing to combat the fires and those that have supported us in our journey.
